For the third in its Empty Space Series, Third Wall Theatre will celebrate the life and work of Vaclav Havel, the Czech poet, playwright, former president and humanitarian.  Artistic Director James Richardson will join resident acting company members Mary Ellis & SImon Bradshaw in a dramatic reading of Audience and Unveiling, two of Havel’s one-act plays as well as a selection of his poetry.  Havel was a revolutionary and a freedom-fighter and his desire for peace and democracy in the former Czechoslovakia is clearly present in his satirical and political writing.

As always the Empty Space Series will be held at Glebe-St. James United Church at 650 Lyon Street South (corner of First Avenue).

ABOUT THE SERIES

The Empty Space Series is so called for several reasons. It comes from a quote by Peter Brook in his book THE EMPTY SPACE, in which he states that all he needs to create theatre is an empty space, an actor, and an audience.  With this series, Third Wall will do just that.  As all events will take place on a Wednesday, they are filling the ‘empty space’ in the middle of the week.  There will be three more of these throughout the year, and all will feature members of the Third Wall Resident Acting Company.
